Safe Food International (SFI) looks at food safety on a global scale. Whether food is mostly locally grown or comes from all parts of the world, food safety is a matter of concern to all people, in all countries and regions. SFI aims to unify and focus the efforts of consumer organizations worldwide that are working to ensure a safer food supply, provide advocates in both wealthy and poor nations with the information they need to assure that their national food safety programs address common food safety problems, approve foods before they are consumed or exported to other countries, and prevent food becoming a target of intentional contamination.

This website will provide information gathered by the SFI team on food safety issues and problems around the globe. We have listed interesting food safety studies and new food safety policies as well as outbreaks of human and animal diseases in different world regions.

Please post your ideas and comments here. If you want to report news from your region, please send it to us at sfi@cspinet.org, and we will post it after review. Please include links to news sources or other material if possible. We are especially interested in connecting with consumer organizations and public health groups around the globe. CODEX at FAO Rome their Aug. 2008 meeting reproted it is reviewing certain plant based GMO proteins for DNA sequanteous cell abnormalities in animal development studies to derive a list of plant based GMO foods that are contributing to severe alergen reac tions. Any additional research on this issue to further the studies is appreicated.
