Saudi Arabia- Surveillance for foodborne illness outbreaks in Qassim, 2006 1 Dec. 2010 Foodborne Pathogens and Disease [edited] [BITES] The objectives of this study were to determine the burden of foodborne illness and to identify the specific foods and causative organisms responsible for foodborne illness outbreaks in Qassim, Saudi Arabia, during 2006. The study is a descriptive analysis of the surveillance data for foodborne illness outbreaks, collected by the Primary Health Care Administration. The researchers concluded that foodborne illness is an important public health problem in Qassim province and a comprehensive approach is required to assure food safety in commercial food establishments. The objectives of this study were to assess the level of food safety knowledge and to investigate the association between the level of food safety knowledge and the socio-demographic and academic variables among college female students staying at dorms in north of Jordan. Students were most knowledgeable about prevention of cross contamination and disinfection procedures and had the most difficulties with items related to cooking responsibilities and with food sources of foodborne pathogens.
