The Health Ministry confirmed on Sun 4 Apr 2010 a new bird flu [avian
influenza (H5N1)] case in Egypt bringing the total number to 109 since the appearance [of the disease] in Egypt in 2006 till now.
The Ministry identified the case as an 18-year-old woman from Al-Fayyoum Governorate. The Ministry reported that she suffers from high temperature and difficulty in breathing and she has been treated in a hospital since Wed 31 Mar 2010.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced on Sunday [4 Apr 2010] a new human death from bird flu [avian influenza (H5N1) virus infection]. The victim is a young woman of 18 years of age, from [Al-Fayyoum Governorate].
According to the Ministry statement, the number of cases of the disease in Egypt has risen to 109 cases, and the number of deaths to 34 [since the onset of the disease in 2006]. The statement indicated that this is the 7th [fatal] case in 2010.

The Ministry of Health of Egypt has announced 2 new human cases of A (H5N1) avian influenza infection.
The 1st case was announced on Sun 28 Mar 2010 and is a 30 year-old female from Damietta district, Damietta Governorate. The case was admitted to hospital on Wed 24 Mar 2010 where she received oseltamivir treatment. She is in a critical condition. [This case ranks as the 18th case in Egypt in 2010 (108th overall). - Mod.CP]
The 2nd case was announced on Sun 21 Mar 2010 [the week before] and is a 4 year-old male from Beba district, Beni Suaif Governorate. The
case was admitted to hospital on Thu 18 Mar 2010 where he received oseltamivir treatment. He died on Wed 24 Mar 2010.
Investigations into the source of infection indicated that both cases had exposure to sick and dead poultry. The cases were confirmed by the Egyptian Central Public Health Laboratories, a National Influenza Center of the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance Network (GISN).
Of the 108 laboratory confirmed cases of avian influenza A (H5N1) reported in Egypt, 33 have been fatal.

The Ministry of Health of Egypt has announced 2 new cases of human H5N1 avian influenza infection. The 1st case is a 20-year-old pregnant female from El Khanka district, Qaliobia Governorate. She was hospitalized on 5 Mar 2010 where she received oseltamivir treatment and died on 9 Mar 2010.
The 2nd case is a 1 and a half-year-old male from Elhamool district, Kfr Elsheikh Governorate. He was hospitalized on 2 Mar 2010, where he received oseltamivir treatment. He is in a stable condition.
Investigations into the source of infection indicated that the 2 cases had exposure to sick and dead poultry.
The Egyptian authorities have also reported the death of a previously announced case; the 53-year-old male from Shobra Elkhima district, Qaliobia Governorate who developed symptoms on 27 Feb 2010.

The Ministry of Health of Egypt has announced 5 new cases of human H5N1 avian influenza infection.
The 1st case is a 53-year-old male from Shobra Elkhima district, Qaliobia Governorate. He developed symptoms on 27 Feb 2010 and was hospitalized on 27 Feb 2010, where he received oseltamivir treatment. He is in a critical condition.
The 2nd case is a one-year-old male from Banha district, Qaliobia Governorate. He developed symptoms on 22 Feb 2010 and was hospitalized on 23 Feb 2010, where he received oseltamivir treatment. He is in a stable condition.
The 3rd case is a 10-year-old male from Meet Ghamr district, Dakalia Governorate. He developed symptoms on 10 Feb 2010 and was hospitalized on 14 Feb 2010, where he received oseltamivir treatment. He is in a moderate condition.
The 4th case is a 30-year-old female from Kellin District, Kafr El-Sheik Governorate. She developed symptoms on 10 Feb 2010 and was hospitalized on 11 Feb 2010, where she received oseltamivir treatment. She is in stable condition.
The 5th case is a 13-year-old male from Kafr El-Sheik District, Kafr El-Sheik Governorate. He developed symptoms on 10 Feb 2010 and was hospitalized on 14 Feb 2010, where he received oseltamivir treatment. He is in stable condition.
Investigations into the source of infection indicated that the 5 cases had exposure to sick and dead poultry.
The cases were confirmed by the Egyptian Central Public Health Laboratories, a National Influenza Center of the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance Network (GISN).
Of the 104 laboratory confirmed cases of avian influenza A(H5N1) reported in Egypt, 30 have been fatal.

Egypt reports one more bird flu case, 103rd case

Egypt reported one new bird flu [avian influenza (H5N1) virus] infection on Wed 24 Feb 2010, taking the tally to 103. A Health Ministry statement reportedly said a 14 month old child from Qalyubia governorate was tested [avian influenza H5N1 virus] positive.
The boy [was] administered the antiviral drug Tamiflu [oseltamivir], and he is in stable health condition, according to the statement.

A statement released by the Ministry of Health on Friday 19 Feb 2010 confirmed 2 new bird flu [avian influenza H5N1 virus infection] cases in Egypt, bringing the total number to 102.
The 101st case is a 13-year-old boy from Kafr El-Sheikh governorate.
The 102nd case is a 30-year-old woman from Qellin city, Kafr El-Sheikh governorate.

A boy, age 10 years, began to exhibit symptoms on 10 Feb 2010. He was referred to a hospital in moderate condition. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) treatment was started on 14 Feb 2010. Infection with HPAI [highly pathogenic avian influenza -- that is, avian influenza (H5N1) virus infection] was confirmed on 17 Feb 2010. The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported this was case number 100 of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Egypt. (Source of report: Egyptian MOH).

The 1st case is a 40-year-old female from Banha District in Daqahliya Governorate. She developed symptoms on 31 Jan 2010 and was hospitalized on 2 Feb 2010, where she received oseltamivir treatment. She is in stable condition.
The 2nd case is a 29-year-old female from Elsadat District, Menofya Governorate. She developed symptoms on 27 Jan 2010 and was hospitalized on 3 Feb 2010, where she received oseltamivir treatment. She is in critical condition.
Investigations into the source of infection indicated that both cases had exposure to sick and dead poultry.
The cases were confirmed by the Egyptian Central Public Health Laboratories, a National Influenza Center of the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance Network (GISN). Of the 96 laboratory confirmed cases of avian influenza A (H5N1) reported in Egypt, 27 have been fatal.

The Ministry of Health of Egypt has announced 4 new cases of humanH5N1 avian influenza infection. The cases are not linked epidemiologically.

The 1st case is a 20-year-old female from Baniswief governorate. She
developed symptoms on 6 Jan 2010 and was hospitalized on 11 Jan 2010,
where she received oseltamivir treatment.

The 2nd case is a one-year-old male from Dakahalya governorate. He
developed symptoms on 7 Jan 2010 and was hospitalized on 12 Jan 2010,
where he received oseltamivir treatment. 
The 3rd case is a 3-year-old male from Assuit governorate. He
developed symptoms on 19 Jan 2010 and was hospitalized on 21 Jan
2010, where he received oseltamivir treatment.

The 4th case is a 45-year-old male from Shargea governorate. He
developed symptoms on 12 Jan 2010 and was hospitalized on 19 Jan
2010, where he received oseltamivir treatment. 
All 4 are currently in a stable condition in hospital. Investigationsinto the source of infection indicated that all 4 cases had exposure
to sick and dead poultry.

The cases were confirmed by the Egyptian Central Public HealthLaboratories, a National Influenza Center of the WHO Global InfluenzaSurveillance Network (GISN).

Of the 94 laboratory confirmed cases of avian influenza A(H5N1)
reported in Egypt, 27 have been fatal.

 A 20 year old woman began experiencing symptoms [of avian influenza (H5N1)
virus infection] on 6 Jan 2010. She had been admitted to hospital on 15 Nov 2009. Her family reported she had contact with sick and
dead poultry. She was reported to be in a stable condition on 13 Jan 2010.
The MOH [Ministry of Health] reported that this was the 91st case of highly
pathogenic avian influenza [H5N1 virus infection] in Egypt.
